Starting his musical education in Geneva at the Jaques Dalcroze Institute and Conservatoire de Musique de Genève, Timothée Botbol then progressed at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne and Royal College of Music on the Artist Diploma program as concert cellist, under tutorship of professors such as Patrick Demenga, Alexander Chaushian and Richard Lester where he was supported by a Musicians’ Company Lambert Studentship, the Concordia Foundation, the AF Marescotti – Ville de Carouge Award and the Fondation F & M-F Minkoff.

During his early career, he has given solo performances in the UK, Switzerland, France, Germany and Italy, in venues including St John’s Smith Square, Royal Albert Hall, St Magnus Festival, Megève Festival and Kings Place. He has appeared as guest principal cellist with Welsh National Opera Orchestra, principal cellist of ensemble Collegium and Orpheus Sinfonia, as well as collaborating with London Philharmonic Orchestra, , Philharmonia, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne. He has also collaborated as chamber musician with artists such as Vilde Frang and Lawrence Power in venues and festivals including West Wycombe Chamber Music Festival, Møn Sommerkonzert in Denmark, Concerts in The West series, the Royal Overseas League, St Martin-in-the-Fields and Kultur-Rockt Festival in Germany.

He was awarded the Grand Prize Special from all categories at the II Augustin Aponte International Music Competition in Tenerife, and is a Park Lane Group Young Artist and Making Music UK selected Artist with his chamber music partner pianist Dinara Klinton.

In addition to cello, Timothée has performed as a baritone soloist, singing at Geneva’s Victoria Hall accompanied by Geneva Chamber Orchestra.

With 15 years of experience in tutorship in the UK, Switzerland and France, Timothée Botbol is a busy cello and chamber music teacher of all ages and levels, with a strong expertise on intermediate and advanced students. With a particular focus directed towards performance mindset and technique required for opportunities, he will accompany any aspiring cellist to reach their musical goals, be it ABRSM or Trinity exam preparation, audition tape for conservatoire application and orchestra opportunities, or simply to learn their favourite repertoire at home.

From his studio in Putney or online, lessons are completely tailored for individual needs and include a class concert at the end of each semester with piano accompaniment.
